  Recipe Baking: Steak - soups, chowders, stews  Directory    

      Recipe Baking: HEARTY STEAK SOUP

 3 lbs. ground beef
2 (1 lb.) cans stewed tomatoes
1 pkg. onion soup mix
8 c. water
2 c. chopped onion
2 c. diced carrots
2 c. diced celery
1 bag (4 c.) frozen mixed vegetables
1/2-1 stick margarine
4 beef cubes
1 c. flour
2 tsp. pepper
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp. Accent (opt.)
2 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet

Brown beef; drain off grease and set aside meat. Make a thin white sauce with margarine, flour and water. Stir until smooth. Add all other ingredients and stir in browned meat. Simmer for 2 to 3 hours. This makes 5 quarts so use a large Dutch oven or kettle. Makes 16 servings.

 QUICK & EASY STEAK SOUP

  1 lb. ground sirloin
1 med. chopped onion
1 stalk diced celery
1 box frozen mixed vegetables
4 oz. tomato paste (add to taste)
1 can beef consomme
4 tbsp. flour mixed with 3 c. water

Brown beef in skillet. Lightly saute onions and celery. Drain off fat. Add other ingredients and simmer 1 hour.
