        Recipe Baking: Steak & rice dishes  Directory    

   Recipe Baking: PEPPER STEAK WITH RICE

  3 c. hot cooked rice
1 lb. beef (I use top sirloin cut
into strips
1 tbsp. paprika
2 tbsp. margarine
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 1/2 c. beef broth
1 c. sliced scallions with tops
2 green peppers, cut into strips
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 lg. fresh tomatoes, cut in eighths

Sprinkle beef with paprika and allow to stand 10 minutes. Using a large skillet, brown meat in margarine. Add garlic and broth. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Stir in peppers and scallions. Cover and cook 5 minutes more. Blend cornstarch, water and soy sauce. Stir into meat mixture. Cook, stirring until clear and thickened about 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and stir gently. Serve over hot cooked rice. Serves 6.

                     STEAK AND RICE

 1 1/2 lb. tenderized beef round steak
2 lg. onions, cut in 1/2 inch slices
and separated into rings
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 1/2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drain and
save liquid
1/2 c. dry sherry
3 c. cooked hot rice

Cut steak into thin strips. In a large skillet, brown meat in oil, using high heat. Add onions; saute until tender-crisp. Blend soup, sherry, liquid from mushrooms and garlic salt. Pour over steak. Add mushrooms. Simmer for 1 hour. Serve over rice.
